Hi,
Well,
today is a stormy winter's day. My other half is cooking up a brew of
hearty vegetable soup. Our bench top is burgeoning with a dozen
different home grown produce in a rainbow of colours. The small orange
carrots catch my eye, they are newly plucked from their beds and have
their feathery fronds covered in dew and soil is glistening in sprinkled
clumps on their whiskers. They promise to sweeten the simmering soup
in an earthy, mellow way. The large pot is already full to the brim
with potatoes, green beans, dried borlotti beans, corn, spinach, turnips,
celeriac, onions, celery, kale and garlic. Our small home is full of
the smoky aroma which promises a delicious meal tonight. Lucky me.
I
sit at my desk writing this. There is a gale blowing through the
dog-door and I think I'll have to stuff it up with something as my toes
are growing cold. I am making a couple of cards today. One is for my
son's friend. He turns 13 and is having a get-together at the local
cinema watching the new Transformers movie. I'm so glad I'm getting out
of taking my Harry to that one. I can't cope with the 3D experience as
I suffer vertigo and end up feeling sick. I spend the movie with my
eyes shut and I think my money is better spent watching a movie not
hearing it. Does anyone else ever experience the same problem with 3D
movies?
Anyway,
I hope you like this card. I made this card using Stampin' Up!'s Great
Sport stamp set, the Alphbet Press Textured Impressions Embossing
Folder and the Just Sayin' stamp set and matching framelits. The
backgroud paper is Coredinations CS in Old Olive and was sanded to
distress the texture.
The
images were heat embossed in the platnum and gold and popped up with
dimensionals. I 'fussy' cut the 13, out of a couple of scraps pieces of
Coredinations and distressed and inked the numbers so they stand up and
out. The wings on the central image are curled up to add extra
dimension. I think Elliot will enjoy the card and present. What 13
year old boy doesn't like a Nerf Gun!

So, I made this second card for a
sick friend of my Mum. I have started decorating the inside of my
cards. Initially, when I first started making card all the insides were
blank. But now I think that the cards look too naked if there is
nothing nice inside. It's like it's half done.
My
interiors are not very ornate but I use the same images from the card
front to give some balance or continuity. There are some people who
make very intricate interiors for their cards. I have done ornate
interiors for some special occasion cards but generally I don't have
that much time. What do you think?
Well,
this card was made on Stampin' Up! Naturals White CS. The front panel
is Crumb Cake Core-dinations CS and was embossed with the Festive
Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and sanded to distress it. I love
the silhouette images from the Serene Silhouettes stamp set. I have
sponged Strawberry Slush and Tempthing Turquoise inks on an oval cut out
of Whisper White CS. Both ovals were cut with the Ovals Collection
framelits. The little banner on the front was one of the extras from the
Label Card Thinlits die. This thinlits die set is very versatile with
little banners, arrows, script words etc.
I
must bid you farewell for now. I hope you like my cards. Feel free to
pin them or check out our Facebook or Pinterest pages. All products are from Stampin' Up! If you would like more information on the products or techniques used please leave a comment and I can respond.
Ciao, Meg
